WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app in the world, but the images and videos received in its group chats quickly fill up phone storage. However, the company has now come up with a unique solution to save phone storage.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, a website that monitors WhatsApp updates, the app under the ownership of Meta has decided to introduce a new feature that will solve the storage filling issue.
WhatsApp has introduced a feature called “Expiring Groups” in its beta version for iOS. It is essentially a disappearing feature that was introduced for individual chats in 2020.
With this feature, users can set an expiration date for group messages. Users will be able to choose from options like one day, one week, or custom dates.
Users will also have the option to delete expired data.
This feature is currently in the development phase and it may take several weeks or months for it to reach the general public.
However, it is a useful tool for WhatsApp, which will make it easier to clean up old or irrelevant groups, resulting in better device storage.
