According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the government of Pakistan did not consult with them regarding the subsidy on petrol for low-income individuals.
The IMF representative in Pakistan, Teresa Daban Sanchez, stated that the government did not reach out to the global financial organization for any advice or contact regarding the scheme for motorcyclists and car owners concerning petroleum product prices.
It should be noted that the government has announced a scheme related to petrol for low-income individuals, offering up to Rs.100 subsidy on petrol for motorcycle riders in light of rising petrol prices and inflation, benefiting fewer than 800 car owners.
