In the 22nd match of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Quetta Gladiators achieved a much-needed victory over Karachi Kings, winning by four wickets at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Martin Guptill played a crucial role in securing the win for the Gladiators, scoring an unbeaten 86 runs and leading the team to chase down a target of 165 runs.
Despite early dismissals, Guptill and captain Sarfaraz Ahmed put together a partnership of 95 runs to steady the Gladiators’ innings.
The Kings had set a defendable total thanks to a match-saving knock of 70 runs by Adam Rossington, but the Gladiators’ bowlers, led by Naseem Shah and Aimal Khan, took crucial wickets to restrict the Kings to 164-7.
The victory puts the Gladiators in contention for the playoffs, while the Kings are eliminated from the tournament.
